Women’s
Health Art and Pilates are offered each Spring and Autumn subject to funding.
Courses are also offered on an outreach basis. The Centre is interested in
working in partnership with community groups in the delivery of programmes in
their area.
Art
Have you always wanted to draw or paint but think ‘I can’t do it’, then come along and join us for this course in drawing and painting? After a few sessions you will say ‘I can’.
The course is for both beginners and experienced artists and will take place in a relaxed environment on Monday mornings for 2 hours.
The course begins on Monday 28th September ’09 from 10.00 to 12.00 noon for 8 weeks. The tutor is Myriam Rommers. The cost of this course is 40 euro.
Conversation English Classes
This course aims to support women from the non-Irish national community who may not have English as their first language to become more confident in conversing in English. Sessions will reflect the individual needs of the group and be delivered in a fun, relaxed environment.
The course will begin on Friday 25th September ’09 from 10.00 to 1.00 pm for 10 weeks. The tutor is Kathy Dunleavy. The course is free.
Pilates for Women
Pilates will strengthen the back and tone your body. It is especially good for anyone suffering from back problems as it improves the posture and strengthens the spine. It also lengthens and strengthens the muscles in the body especially the stomach area. It is a very gentle but effective form of exercise that will make you look and feel great.
It is open to all ages.
Participants need to bring a mat or thick towel and wear comfortable clothes.
This course begins on Monday 28th September ’09 from 10.30 to 11.30 am for 8 weeks. The tutor is Samantha Cowan. The cost of the course is 35/15 euro.
Introduction to Counseling & Listening
The aim of this course is to raise awareness about counseling and listening. It will be a gentle non-academic course, which will provide an introduction and exploration of the aspects of counseling.
The course begins on Thursday 1st October ’09 from 10.30 to 1.00 pm for 8 weeks. The tutor is Kathy O’Connor. The cost of the course is 35/15 euro.
Women’s Health for the Over 40’s:
This course covers a comprehensive range of topics which are of importance to women over the age of 40. Issues covered include ‘Living a Balanced Life’, ‘Cancer Prevention’, ‘Menopause’, ‘Positive Mental Health’ to name but a few.
The course begins on Tuesday 29th September ’09 from 7.30 to 9.30 pm for 8 weeks. The tutor is Vera Sweeney. The cost of the course is 35/15 euro.
Budgeting for Today
Our ‘Budgeting for Today’ course is new for this autumn. This very appropriate course will be of benefit to anyone struggling to cope with the constraints of the current recession.
The course will begin on Tuesday 29th September ’09 from 10.30 to 12.30 pm for 8 weeks. The tutor is Kathy O’Connor. The cost of the course is 16 euro.
