Women's Health and Family Planning Clinic

The women's health and family planning clinics in the Women's Centre take place twice a week in the evenings. The clinics provide information, advice and supply all types of contraception. In addition to this all women's health issues are dealt with in a private and confidential manner. Female doctors, nurses and receptionist staff them. All information given is strictly confidential. Cervical screening is free to all women between the ages of 25 and 60. Wheelchair access from the rear of the Centre.

Days & Times of Clinic
Days: Mon & Tues from 5pm to 7.30pm.

Monday - Smear clinic with the nurse which includes blood pressure etc. This clinic is free to everyone.
Tuesday - Doctor and nurse available and all types of contraception discussed and available and all other issues (e.g. infertility and endometriosis) are dealt with.
Cervical screening is free to all women between the ages of 25 and 60. Women need to register with the National Database to avail of their free smear. This can be done by contacting 1800 45 45 55 or by visiting www.cervicalcheck.ie . Cervical screening can be provided privately for a fee of 30 euro to all women under 25 and over 60.


Types of contraception available at the clinic:
All types of contraceptive pills, Depo-provera Injections, Coils (Mirena/copper), Implants (Implanon), Emergency contraception. Caps/Diaphragms. However, IUS (mirena coil) evra patch, implanon, nova ring are all available by prescription only.
 

Other services available include:

  • Pregnancy testing (free and available at all times in the centre)
  • Cervical Screening (smear tests)
  • Post abortion check-ups.
  • General Gynaecological advice on topics such as sexually transmitted infections (swabs and urine samples can be taken if necessary), bleeding problems, menopause.
  • Infertility advice.
  • Referrals to out-patients clinics (Gynae, Breast, Colposcopy and Physio)
  • Medical card holders receive free consultation and contraceptives.
